Ahoy there! 30 years old, Australia, no money this year, so I am trying to ask for things that cost nothing but time - and I am trying to do the same thing.

1. Do you know any PhD students? Then please: DO NOT ASK THEM WHEN THEY WILL FINISH. In my experience (and I am currently living it!) the writing up is the hardest, and you push yourself, and push yourself, and still don't finish. Having people ask questions and have a show of incredulous disbelief that you are still there????? is not at all heartening!

2. For a number of years I have been trying to get this post up to the 5000 - and now the 10 000 mark. Please go make a comment! Comment to other peoples. Maybe I will get there in the next 10 years

3. Suggestions for non-mainstream musicals. I adore musicals and opera, and I am interested in things that don't only make it to broadway and westend. Particularly ones that have numerous female roles, and if there is a chorus, that they are not only on for less than 10 minutes in a 2 hours show.

4. If you feel like sending me a random gift, I am totally cool with that. Just message me and I shall respond :-)

5. I am a busy and stressed person.. but I have an artistic side too. What sort of artistic things do you do that can be set up and put away, and don't require a *huge* investment of funds? I really want to know!

6. Appreciate someone! I think we forget how important the little strokes are - well done, thankyou for doing that etc etc. Do it for a friend, do it for someone you work with. It can change a whole dynamic.

7. Next time you hear someone say something derogatory about someone else - whether because of their religion, their colour, because they are fat, or any other myriad of reasons. Call them on it. I am a big believe that by saying nothing we are passively endorsing whatever it being said. This one is a huge call, but I think if we all did it, the world would be a nicer place.

8. If you were having the ultimate dinner party, what would your menu be? (recipes nice, but not mandatory :-). We have a dinner party group, and my mexican lunch was nice, but a lunch, not a dinner party (to quite my friends). I have until Feb to come up with my menu, but I want to wow everyone, and would love some ideas. There are no dietry restrictions (there is a lactose intolerant vegequarian coming, but I will make her her own dishes if it doesn't fit in with the main food).

9. Give a loved one a hug and tell that you love them. Do this *especially* if you don't do it all that often. I know that I love my family, but I don't think I always say it :-/

10. If you think we would get on, and if you like interacting, and would like another lj friends, add me! I miss the interactions that I used to have, and while I love the people I have there at the moment, I would be a fool to say no to new friends

And I think that is all! I wasn't intending to make such a long list.. but it is what it is :-)

Hi! My name is Daisy, I'm 26, and I live in Texas. This is my first time here. I know I'm way late, but I'm mostly posting this because I love making lists.;)

1. A Pen pal: I miss getting things (other than bills) in the mail.

2. Sweet Valley University books: I loved these when I was a teen and, apparently, some things never change. I'd love to have all of these (so far, I have the first three).

3. Hayao Miyazaki movies: Beside the fact that I love them, they are the only movies my kids will sit through (regardless of how many times they've seen them).

4. Roller derby stuff: I'm kind of obsessed with roller derby; I'll take anything!

5. HESI A2 tips: I am applying to nursing school and have to take this soon. I'm kind of really stressed over the whole application process.

6. Knitting help: I really want to learn to knit. I feel kind of dumb because I can't get past one row.:/

7. Craft supplies: Once upon a time, I used to be super crafty. I'm trying to get that back.

8. Mixed cd’s: It's always nice to discover new music.:)

9 Scarves: Any and all. I've never been a scarf-wearer, so I'm kind of trying them out.

10. Healthy, easy recipes: I'm trying to develop better eating habits.

My email is: girlgoddess83@gmail.

Happy holidays!!

Thanks to my secret santa (yes, I opened!) [info]plain_mornings for the lovely holiday gift!

The hat is great and I have already worn it out and about several times! And the gum is just yum!

The pin up girl card was quite cute!

Quark is purr-snoring. The cuteness of that just does me in every time. <3

And TPM is not just as bad as I remember it being. It's worse. Mandy and I are both watching from our respective homes and texting back and forth at key moments. My favorites from Mandy so far: "The crappiness is like badly written quicksand" and "Finally had to mute it. Curse you, George". Mocking one's fandom is a underrated sport, I tell you.

So, I have this problem where sometimes I read things like [info]fandomsecrets and fandom_wank, even though this is not generally good for my sanity and general level of good cheer. I keep doing it because the adorable is FREAKIN' adorable (wouldn't have written "Stupid People" without that secret about Cas looking like a pet-begging-kitty), and the wank is so ridiculous that it makes me laugh sometimes. But then there are things sometimes, you know, where people whine about how batshit insane and wanky and misogynistic the SPN fandom is, and that makes me sad (even if sometimes they are sort of true sometimes).

Because, you guys, for real, there are people in this fandom who are amazing. Just...beyond amazing. Incredibly talented, sweet, generous... I mean, I could go on. And on and on and on.

In this particular instance, I'm talking about [info]authoressnebula. If you don't know this awesome fantastic person, you are missing out. MISSING OUT.

For several years now she's been writing ficlets for, like, a hundred people every Christmas. A HUNDRED PEOPLE YOU GUISE. I asked for holiday prompts last year from my flist and only got around to like six of them. (I still feel bad about that.) And she wrote 115. ::hands::

The community is [info]skynspace, and it is chock full of magic. I've only looked through a few of the Supernatural ficlets, but she wrote for bunches of other fandoms too.

AND OMG THE ONE SHE MADE FOR ME YOU GUYS IT MAKES ME GO ALL FLAILY LIKE THIS. (Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.) Here it is! The only way it could be a more perfect present for me is if it was a real life Castiel standing in my kitchen eating my cookies and making confused faces at me. Because, you know, that would be my perfect present. (And oh, I would feed him cookies. SO MANY COOKIES.)

So yeah. Go. Enjoy the fics. Bask in the glow of [info]authoressnebula's astounding talent and generosity and all-around awesomeness.

And then try to tell me that our fandom isn't insanely wonderful.

How many are still out there in this group?  Are there plans for a rousing start to another 90 days on Jan 1st?  I was an active member in the first half of 2008 and belonging to this group did a lot to motivate me to finish a first rough draft.  I'd like to find that same activating muse again.  I'm hoping there are plenty of active members still out there that plan to dig into writing in January - Please, I need your communal writing verve and empathy!

It's the last day of our countdown! Our song is finally coming to an
end. :(

There will be more fun to come following the countdown, I promise.
We'll be reviewing our favorite items of the decade.

Until then, though...

"On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love gave to me,
twelve drummers drumming,
eleven pipers piping,
ten lords-a-leaping,
nine ladies dancing,
eight maids-a-milking,
seven swans-a-swimming,
six geese-a-laying,
five gold rings,
four calling birds,
three French hens,
two turtle doves,
and a partridge in a pear tree!"

Our list for today is the funnest one yet! I want you to share your top
twelve toys of all time!

My list:
1. Barbies (of course)
2. Littlest Pet Shop (the originals)
3. Polly Pocket (the originals)
4. P.J. Sparkles
5. Board Games
6. Cabbage Patch Dolls
7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
8. Power Ranger dolls
9. Stuffed Animals!
10. Disney toys (When I was young, there used to be figures and
playsets to go with all sorts of animated Disney movies.)
11. Bikes
12. Rollerblades

What are your top toys? Some of mine are very general, but I wanted to
get a lot on the list! (Notice video games are not on there anywhere. I
was not really big into playing them as a kid.)

Song of the Day: "Deck the Halls"
